Watch out aesthetics, there’s a new name in the market! People who are looking to shave off years, smooth skin, and erase those pesky fine lines and wrinkles just got another injectable option, thanks to the Food and Drug Administration. Jeuveau® (prabotulinumtoxinA), a 900kDa purified botulinum toxin type A complex, is racing into the market, and boy is it standing its ground! Former Allergan executives (Allergan is the manufacturing company that produces Botox®), having worked at Allergan for over 13 years, decided to step out of their comfort zone and leaped into the world of Evolus. The main reason, expressed by the executives, was because Jeuveau® by Evolus is an aesthetic exclusive market. Unlike Allergan, a pharmaceutical company working with surgical and other medicinal markets, Evolus only works with aesthetics exclusively. This is important because Evolus is able to focus all of their efforts into the leading aesthetic category; neurotoxins.

Jeuveau® is the first 900 kDa molecule neurotoxin since Botox® was introduced, according to Moatazedi, one of Evolus’s executives.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, neurotoxin injectable procedures have been increasing, and continue to rise. Not only are injectables becoming more common, but the age for patients continues to decrease, with more and more people in their 30s and even 20s getting toxin injections.

At Allure Aesthetic Center, we are advocates of natural and beautiful looking results. During each procedure, we evaluate which areas need to be treated based on your facial expression, line appearance, and muscle strength. The area is then  cleaned and prepped with numbing cream, upon request, and a small needle is the inserted into each injection site. One visit usually takes around 20 minutes, including your consultation prior to the injections. We ensure that each of our patients feel comfortable and easily tolerate the minor pinching sensation at the injection sites. The muscle control that is creating your wrinkles begins to diminish within 7-10 days, and full correction occurring closer to 14 days (results vary from patient to patient). As with other neurotoxins, there is no downtime associated with a Jeuveau® treatment, and each patient is able to go on about their regular daily activities. After the injections, mild redness and swelling may occur at the injection site. This is normal, as your skin is usually jus agitated that it was being poked at. This erythema will subside within 10 minutes of the injections. Jeuveau® results (along with its competitors Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®) can last anywhere from three to four months. We recommend getting treatments within this time frame to keep your muscle control to a minimum, resulting in possibly fewer treatments as time goes on.

As mentioned previously, Jeuveau® is a great option for both men and women who are wanting to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Here at Allure Aesthetic Center, we always offer free consultations and encourage anyone considering Jeuveau® or any other rejuvenation procedures to speak with one of our highly trained medical professionals. Patients who are allergic to the ingredients in Jeuveau® or anyone who has had a previous allergic reaction to other Botulinum products should advise the staff, as well as consult with their Physician, prior to any treatment. Patients must also disclose if they are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, are breast-feeding or have used Botulinum injections in the past.
