PDO Threads

PDO Threads is an effective non-invasive treatment to improve the appearance of sagging skin. It lifts and tightens sagging skin tissues by increasingcollagen production. The procedure involves the implantation of fine, absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) threads into the interstitial tissue at the subdermal level, parallel to the surface of the skin. They are 100% biocompatible and bio-absorbable materials, which has long been used in medical suturing (for example, cardiothoracic surgery). There are different types of filaments with different configurations depending on the end goal. After six months, the threads will be absorbed into the body, leaving new collagen in their place.

Generally, PDO Threads are used for lifting and rejuvenating functions. Lifting action will improve on the treated areas over a period of 2-6 months as new collagen grows, giving further lift and tightening to the skin. Secondly, a rejuvenating action will re-absorb the filament component, helping the skin to boost its natural collagen.

NOVA Threads treatment may be used on the following areas: vermillion border of top lip, marionette lines, jowls, double chin and sagging skin on the neck. It also can be used on body areas such as arms, elbows, above the knee, buttocks, abdomen, breasts, and tights.

PDO Threads are ideally suited for patients in their 30’s to 50’s who are experiencing the traditional signs of aging such as sagging skin and loss of volume in the face and other body areas. Thread lifting can create a dramatic improvement to any area of the face or body, which needs a lifting effect.

Price ranges between $80 to $150 per thread.

PDO Threads

The procedure usually takes between 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the treatment area, under local anesthesia. Side effects are minimal but may include swelling and bruising that lasts 3-7 days. Patients can continue with normal activities immediately after the treatment. A thread lift’s lasting power depends on the age of the patient and how much sagging the thread lift has corrected, however it is usually from 1 to 2 years. It’s possible to extend the results by having additional threads inserted.

Advantages of using PDO Threads in aesthetic procedures:

* No incision, no tieback of sutures and little or no downtime to patients;

* Safe procedure with local anesthesia, and only takes around 30 minutes;

* Very little or no edema or bruising;

To minimize the risk of complications please carefully follow your pre-treatment and post-treatment instructions:

Do Not take ASPIRIN (Anacin, Bufferin, or Baby Aspirin) or IBUPROFEN (Advil, Motrin, or Nuprin), or NAPROXEN (Aleve) or Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) similar to these medications, for ten (10) days before treatment. These substances impair platelet function in the normal clotting process and thus promote bleeding and bruising. It is permissible to take acetaminophen (Tylenol or Anacin-3).

Do not drink alcohol for 2 days prior to treatment, this might cause excessive bleeding and decreased resistance to infection. Please avoid red wine for 4 days prior to the treatment in order to minimize bruising.

Diet before treatment: You should eat a light meal before arriving at the office for your procedure.
